Battersea Power Station Development Company is regenerating one of the world’s most famous buildings, designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott on the south bank of the Thames. The 16 ha site will become home to a vibrant new town centre with shops, cafes, restaurants and bars set among 3,500 new homes, 150,000 sq m of new offices and hotels, over 100,000 sq m of retail, open space and facilities for the arts.
The art deco power station itself, which was decommissioned 30 years ago, will be refurbished for the public to enjoy. Construction of Phase One commenced in July 2013.
