Luxury cinema brand Showcase Cinema de Lux to open at Buchanan Galleries

The Buchanan Partnership, a joint venture between Land Securities and Henderson Global
Investors, has signed global cinema brand Showcase Cinema de Lux to the new Buchanan
Galleries development, scheduled to open in 2017.
The proposed 10 screen cinema will anchor the leisure element of the scheme, further
strengthening Buchanan Galleries’ position as the dominant shopping and leisure destination
in Scotland. As well as airing the latest films, satellite broadcasts and the best in music, arts and events, the new Showcase Cinema de Lux will feature a VIP gallery bar and lounge, plus a lobby bar and lounge which will ensure visitors to Buchanan Galleries are entertained through the day and night.
The cinema will offer upgraded XLR (extra leg room) seating in several screens, as well as a
large format XPlus screen with premium gallery seating, to deliver a fully immersive film
experience. Each screen will boast cutting-edge audio visual technology including Sony Digital 4k projectors and the very latest Dolby digital surround sound.
The new Buchanan Galleries will deliver 1.2 million sq ft of retail, leisure and restaurant space to the heart of Glasgow, and will be anchored by two major flagship stores – a new 150,000 sq ft Marks & Spencer, and a reconfigured 300,000 sq ft John Lewis department store.
Buchanan Galleries will be home to more than 100 shops and 25 restaurants as well as the
state of the art Showcase Cinema de Lux. Located in the existing retail heart of Scotland’s
largest city, which has the highest level of retail spend outside London, the newly extended
centre will give national and international brands a rare opportunity to gain a prominent
foothold in a city, renowned for its fashion, culture, food and style.
